About Freedom in Messiah
Freedom in Messiah in Rochester, NY is devoted to helping Believers resolve personal and spiritual conflicts in their lives, and helping non-Believers to find Messiah. By teaching people to understand and practice Biblical principles of discipleship, Freedom in Messiah helps people to overcome temptation, break down mental strongholds, become mentally and emotionally free from the past, renew their minds, and change their lives through genuine repentance. Knowing, understanding and living according to the truths taught by Messiah Yeshua enables all believers to be free from the power of sin in their lives, and to have a closer walk with God through the power of the Holy Spirit. It is possible to live the way that God wants us to live without constantly being controlled by the world, the flesh and the devil.
Freedom in Messiah is a ministry of Congregation Shema Yisrael in Rochester, NY. and is Community Freedom Ministry (CFM) recognized by Freedom in Christ Ministries of Knoxville, TN. Freedom in Messiah is directed by Pastor Tom Burgo, a trained CFM Associate (CFMA). A CFM applies the principles of Freedom in Christ as taught by Dr. Neil Anderson in his books Victory Over the Darkness, The Bondage Breaker, and other works. According to Dr. Anderson, the mission of a CFM is to continue the Messiah Yeshua's "ministry of setting captives free (Isaiah 61:1-3) so that God’s people can lay aside every burden and the sin that so easily entangles them, and so have the capacity to move forward into maturity in Christ, running the race that He has set before them.
